(Word Document)
The ACRE, Inc. stood as one of the major sponsors of the 1st Philippine Back to Back Concert of the Loboc Children’s Choir (LCC) and the Loboc Youth Ambassadors Band (LYAB) on October 28, 2008. The ACRE delegation was enchanted by the children and youth of Loboc with their angelic voices and excellent band music, along with the hundreds of guests from Antipolo City and Metro Manila. The Komusikasyon Group of Assumption Girls opened the concert with a very touching original song, I Want Peace. The song was composed for an Assumption girl who is still struggling for dear life after being shot on the head by a man three months ago. The criminal is still at large. .
The choir, founded in 1980 by Maestra Alma F. Taldo and the recently founded youth band are living witnesses of the great musical cultural heritage of the town of Loboc, considered as the Center of Spanish Culture and Musical Talent in the Province of Bohol. Members of the choir are of ages nine to thirteen. With the patient mentoring by Ma’am. Alma, the choir has gained the recognition of winning the top prizes in local and international choral competitions. Below are some of the songs rendered by the Choir:
Sound of Music Medley
Salve Regina
I Will Follow You
I am But a Small Voice
Beauty and the Beast
Under the Sea
Hakuna Matata
A Whole New World
Tomorrow
Kayganda ng Ating Musika
Kailan
Mama
Habang May Buhay
Masdan Mo (Ang Kapaligiran)
The Loboc Youth Ambassadors Band (LYAB) proved to be equally awesome, under the baton of Maestro Rene Biliran Balbin. The repertoire of the band ranged from the classical to the modern. Much applauded was the band’s rendition of movie themes like Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and the medley of musical themes of the ever popular James Bond Movies.
The Loboc Youth Ambassadors Band enthralled President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo who invited them to play at the Malacañang Palace after their Assumption concert. The LYAB was asked by the Philippine President to stay in Manila for another day in order to play for all the members of the League of Governors of the Philippines.
The groups’ back to back concert was a coming home event from their musical tour of China, where they won Gold medals respectively during the October 2008 International Festival of Children’s Choirs and Youth Bands.
The proceeds of the concert will go to the Development and Scholarship Fund of the Loboc Youth Ambassadors Band, the Loboc Children's Choir, and the special cause of Children and Peace Philippines.
