BSP- Consumer Expectations Survey 2008, 1st Quarter

THE ASIA-PACIFIC CENTER FOR RESEARCH (ACRE) INC, in collaboration with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), conducted the training of enumerators for the 1st Quarter BSP-Consumer Expectations Survey (CES) on January 9-14, 2008. The trained enumerators conducted the month-long survey on January 15 to February 15, 2008.

Separate training schedules were held for three major groups of enumerators for Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The onsite training events took place as follows:

  • The NCR group – Jan. 9-10 (Wed, Thurs) – Penthouse Function Room Cityland Pasong Tamo Tower Chino Roces Ave. Makati City

  • The Cebu group – Jan. 11-12 (Fri, Sat) – Center for Development and Training (CENDET) – UCCP-CENDET Compound No. 85 Osmeρa Boulevard, Cebu City

  • The Davao group – Jan. 13-14 (Sun, Mon) – Sycamore Room of Sychar Hotel – 148 J. P. Laurel Avenue Davao City


The interviewers had an in depth guided review of the survey questionnaire and the survey operations manual on the first day. To assess their interviewing skills and knowledge of the survey objectives, the interviewers were made to do mock interviews which were critiqued by the ACRE, Inc. interview trainers. The mock interviews were conducted before the close of the first day.

The interviewers conducted dry run interviews in the field for actual field experience on the second day of training. The day ended with a sharing of field experiences. The problems encountered were discussed and better ways of doing the interviews were suggested.

The successful trainees were accredited to conduct the actual interviews for the BSP-CES Project.
